President Grant III (A Readers Idea Of A Radio)

Thanks to hulahooper for the contact and his ideal new version of the President Grant. Nice to see the added DSP and dual display. Looks like a little Icom, am sure Uniden would be pleased to see this one leave the factory as guess the cost would be high? Please use the comments and let me know the specification and the area it is priced? Is this the €300 unit.

Looks a real nice concept radio. I guess in President and Uniden would cause a stir to see this. Thanks for sharing it with us and am not sure how many would like it? Personally, I like the idea. Seems good looking.

As you know both companies look at the blog so wonder what they think of it?

Fantasy, Not Real, Render, Illusion, Dream, Not Manufactured, The senders idea of how a Grant III could be…..

If this was a real President? Expect €400-€700 as development costs would be into hundreds of thousands of dollars. Bear this in mind when telling me “Where can I buy it”

Ones you not start thinking in how can i put conventional design in super cheap smd components and make a white noise receiver – start building a radio based on a minicomputerboard. The minicomputer do the job. It’s fast enough to create HF-Freqs. There are a lot of i/o ports for controlls, you have the USB port, the Bluetooth and wifi on board. There multiple displays out they will fit to the minicomputer. What else you need is a final stage, a nice housing and a open source Linux OS … Thats how to build future radios. It’s not such a big deal. HAMs build radios like this as hobby! And the realy best: if there are issues – let’s the big grant community find a open source solution and share it for free…

  2. I think the Grant name has been dragged through the mud a bit, they would be better off calling it the George 2. The George 1 was ahead of it’s time, hopefully this new radio if it happens could so the same.

    • Yes that’s true but the sign of good companies are they try to rectify the issues. Happened need we forget with all the 5555 radios with different versions till v6 came along. Nevada I think has shouted loudest with a sub £100 Uniden made SSB EU radio. What happens next? I can just guess really.

  3. looks ok to me but you never know one day it might become real Simon . here is wishing you a happy healthy safe new year to you and your family
