President Grant II Premium Low Noise £211.99 @Radiozing

Radiozing have now the new low noise version of the Grant II Premium for sale and are selling them modified via there email store and of course they offer you the choice to give them a call and discuss a deal on this. These are the latest versions with the lower noise floor. I’m the owner of a few “noisy ones” so still not completely happy with the situation.

I think it’s excellent the issues were addressed although for older owners it’s not great. The best thing is that for the users of the radio in the UK they don’t loose the original .125 ending channels.

Radiozing says this:

SPECIFICATION:

THESE ARE THE LATEST RADIOS FROM PRESIDENT WITH THE LOW NOISE ISSUE RESOLVED!
ON OLDER VERSIONS THERE WAS NOISE LEVEL OF S7, THESE ARE S2!
PRESIDENT GRANT II LATEST UK FIRMWARE VERSION!
PRESIDENT GRANT 2 II PREMIUM AM/FM/SSB CB RADIO EXPANDED MODE + UK40!
Brand new multi-mode mobile CB radio, the President Grant II has 40ch UK FM and 40 (CEPT) FM channels NOW and offers AM/FM/SSB modes which are now fully legal to use in the UK.
And the item number from eBay: 191855792067

  1. If some can get me latest schematics from President would be easy to find out, depends how open president want to be?
I maybe able to give old user some insight if it would be a possible upgrade or not.
Must be new serial numbers on pcb or maybe not, photos anybody?
    Rob.

  2. When I receive my President Grant 2 Premium back from Jason at the shack I will let you all know how the radio performs as I also have the original President Grant 2 ASC V2 which does not suffer from this problem and a couple of other radio’s to compare. I only wish I had of waited one week before purchasing my second Grant 2 as the dealer I bought from is advertising the low noise version without modification.

  3. I’d be interested in how this modification has been achieved. Have the quality of the receive components been uprated to deal with this problem or has the sensitivity just been turned down, in which case wanted signals will now be harder to hear.

I’d love to test one at my QTH, because I have S levels of less than S1, but I’m not going to pay £200+ for the privilege.

  4. Hi Simon ever feel cheated I ordered a President Grant 2 Premium from Radiozing just over one week ago. Upon receiving the radio to my dismay I had a noise level of S5 to S7 even when the Band was flat. I have three other radio’s here including the President Grant 2 ASC which all had a noise level of about S1. I phoned Radiozing to explain the situation and he replied to me that’s how the President Grant 2 Premium is and nothing can be done about it except maybe a modification. I have sent my radio to be modified with James at the RadioShack. Now I read your Blog and see Radiozing advertising a new version of the President Grant 2 Premium with low noise a couple of days purchasing a noisy one and costing me extra money to get modified. I believe knowing that Radiozing knew they were getting the low noise version should have advised me or refunded my purchase, but to late now as its been sent off for modification . Buyers Beware
Anyhow great Blog Simon keep up the good work.

    • Hi Tony,

Don’t know what to say. I’m not sure they knew new ones were noise free as some others have bought them recently too and they were not the same as the other ones. Meaning maybe who sells them to Radiozing didn’t know? I’m truly not sure. And the others I know who contacted me Bought in Germany and Poland.

Myself. Hmm have a few of the old non Premium ones and all noisy and not special at all. But one of them was from someone else who used it and had no noise. There videos show 1/2 noise and mine 7/9 and not useable. I’ve a noisy Premium and a noise free Premium. And the noise free was pure luck! Didn’t know what was getting.

I like the Grant II but the Jackson II suits me more. I sit with noisy first editions and a noisy premium too. Location dependent it seems.

It’s lucky you can get it modified, but I agree the situation isn’t good at all. And I think also that not anyone knows what comes. There was no big advertisement that noise free radios were made.

There are many of us in the exact same position and it’s one that isn’t good. Sorry for late replies am not home and this email not working so well at the moment.

Hope the blog will continue with some new and interesting things.

Hope hear you on the air soon,
      Regards
      Simon
