Courtesy of Lamm and also from Dirk comes a press release that a new radio will be debuted at the Dayton Ham Show 2018. Now that looks like something really interesting to keep an eye on. Do you have any idea what it is? Use the comments to let us know.

  1. I still expect Kenwood to announce the mobile 50 Watt version of the new TH-D74 handheld. But the announcement will be more likely about a HF rig.

  2. Only Kenwood radio I’ve ever owned was a TH-27a. After that It’s all been Yaesu, Tytera, KST etc. for handhelds. And 40m 5W QRP CW only rig.

  3. TS-480 has been in production for 14 years, 2000 for almost 18. Probably a new TS-2000 aka TS-9000.

  4. Hello years ago I had the 480 and I thought it was more of a desk type radio the head was on the bench and the radio was on the floor and I didn’t think it was that nice a radio compared to the 570
    73s

  5. @ Matt. Kenwood still has the TS480 in both 100Watt and 200Watt versions.

  6. you maybe right matt but if kenwood are wanting to be a market leader they will have to compete with icom I think it will be a sdr radio makes you wonder if yaesu will go the same way interesting times ahead

  7. Hello
I think it might be a small mobile radio like the old TS 50 , because they have the big base station the 990 and they have a mid range radio 590 but no small radio? but this is a guess
