R.I.P Pee-Wee 43WR144 / VK2FKGP

It’s with great sadness that via the blog we announce the passing away of Peter “Pee Wee” Knox from cancer. Peter was a radio man to his core! I’ve known him more years than I can say and no matter his frustration with poor conditions, storms, SWR going through the roof he was always on air and awaiting a chat whether local or DX on 355 LSB. Rest In Peace Pee Wee.

  6. Rip Peter, Known him since the late 1970s. First person i ever spoke to on the CB , He lived up the street from me in Dubbo NSW . Managed to stay in touch all these years and he came out last year and spent a couple of days here. I am glad I got to see him last Thursday in Taree Hospital, He was still positive, Telling me his plans for once he got out of the hospital, Telling me that he still had a couple of radios and was going to set one up in the place he was staying. Rip Peter , Blue Fox as he was known back in the Dubbo days. I spoke to him a few years back on 27 mhz during a mountain radio challenge and thought that was fantastic to be talking to him back on CB after all those years.

    • David and Joel your words are eloquent and touching at the same time. Although I’m across the other side of the world Pete has a voice that was recognised across the kilometres. I spoke to him from an island here and also from other countries and cities. He’d always ask “what’s a pom doing there” with a smile in his voice.

It’s a tragic loss to our wonderful although small CB world and to his family. But be sure he’ll be with a cold tin, a mike and an antenna waiting to shoot the skip from the clouds.

We will all miss him, this I’m sure of!

  7. Thanks for your kind words.. Pee-Wee spoke to many far and wide and spread the word of radio to many. i was fortunate to not only speak to him on air (ive only known him for 5 yrs), but to share beers in both his and my own home towns and shacks. he will be missed by many on the airwaves, as posts like this and many others on facebook are showing.
RIP 43WR144 Pee Wee on the Hill.
