Did IMAX 2000 Shrink?

Not sure if something for our European or North American readers and really quite a niche question! I’ve been asked whether the Imax 2000 has recently undergone a transformation and it’s now smaller than it was before? Bud asks me as he’s bought one and he’s been told it’s smaller now “due to shipping restrictions” they’ve made it smaller. PLUS he’s told me it’s harder (in his opinion) to SWR than previous versions of the antenna.

Honestly I don’t know. I believed it was 24 ft long / 735cm and appears the same now.

I asked in Canada and was told it’s smaller since new owner makes in China?

Finally I’ve looked at BellsCB. The IMAX now named MAX. They write the following below.

Anybody know the real answer? Please write below and let us all know.

  1. I can hear the manager say: “well, just cut a few inches off so it fits in the box”

  2. My Solarcon Max 2000 is a brilliant antenna and I’ve had it for over a year now. I hope they don’t change it in any way as it’s a fantastic plug and play solution – as its wide banded and mine didn’t need tuning in at all. Last year it got me out all over Europe. If they do change or have changed it in any way it would be worth another manufacturer making their own version to cover 11m.

  4. Shipping prices. It cost much more if the lenght of box is longer than 2.40 meter = Special shipping. Solarcon IMAX = 2.50 meter long.

  5. Very strange for shipping that’s answer like one size
Fits all, Could it be more like it’s them CB lot getting
To good a deal from the high up hams, as a shiping issue.
Sounds not that true this is the way I see it.But who knows what goes on , in the world of antenna design

  6. Yes it’s shorter. There’s a very detailed thread on worldwidedx forum. Don’t buy one until it all gets straightened out with the manufacture.
