Tank Whip & Lemm AT3001 Turbostar

Guess it’s old age catching up on me but I remember way back in time (80’s) sitting on 25-26 MHz chatting across to Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and indeed USA running a tank whip. The 102′ 1/4 was bought from an army surplus store as I recall and worked really well indeed. So as it’s new year and new ideas I’m going to re-try a Tank Whip from Thunderpole. Photos here are (c) http://www.thunderpole.co.uk SO I thought why not try it again from the hills. Add to this from Konektor5000 in Łódź comes a Lemm Turbostar 3001 with a 180cm whip. I know my Stryker, Wilson and Sirio work but now new decade try something less obvious!

Anyone here run a 9ft 1/4 let me know?

  1. I have one of those Thunderpole tank whips, and I fitted it to a dipole adaptor with a Firestik as the counterpoise…!

  2. I still have a original SINGLE piece tank whip from the 80’s specially for hilltop work 👍 you cant beat em!
