News of another activation and this time it’s a I.O.T.A in Finland. Ohtakari is an island and fishing village of the Kokkola district in the former municipality of Lohtaja. Ohtakari is at the head of the Lohtaja Vattaja peninsula, connected by a causeway, the last island before the open sea. From Ohtakari to Lohtaja village is about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi).

  1. Perhaps I am a bit ‘picky’ but any portion of land connected to the mainland by a causeway of any form is not an island in my eyes, an island is a portion of land that is surrounded on all sides by water and only accessible by boat or aeroplane.
