CRT Micron UV:

1)    Push and hold [ P4] and [FUNC ] keys while turn on the radio 2)  The radio enters in “TEST MODE “and display CH XXX. 3) Turn the channel rotator to displaying CH-043 and MODE 01 4) Push and hold PTT key , 01 will be display in blue color , turn the channel rotator to displaying 02 , then release PTT key . 5) Turn off and on again the radio. 6) The CRT MICRON can work now between 136 to 174 MHz and 400 to 490 MHz.

CRT 279UV Unlock:

Turn on the CRT 279 UV and immediately after press and hold the right selection button A password menu appears: enter the code 1001201 with the keys of the microphone

Input the VHF frequencies like this: 1361741 which corresponds to the chosen frequency band from 136 Mhz to 174 Mhz Input the UHF frequencies like this: 4004701 which corresponds to the chosen frequency band from 400 Mhz to 470 Mhz

To return to the origin made the reverse procedure 144 Mhz – 146 Mhz and 430 Mhz – 440 Mhz

    • Hello John,

      The modification is in the European sold President Bill. If your in USA etc it won’t work. Put it easily

      Move jumper from 1/2 till 2/3
      Cut the white wire
      Solder Closed jumper 3

      No peak and tune as no variables inside to tune.

      But ONLY on European Version

  8. Hello dear sir, I’d like to put my problem here, looking forward for your kind opinion and (maybe) your suggestions.
    My Anytone AT-588 UHF amateur tranceiver, transmits normally in full, medium or low power, without problems in the whole amateur uhf band, in simplex mode.
    But if I try to transmit, in order to open the nearby repeater (in distance less than 10 miles), using the 88.5 tone and the -7.600 shift in memory channel 02, my voice is distorted (according to the reports of other hams + my monitor from a rearby handheld).
    I tried to reset the rig, from the RESTORE menu, but the problem still exists.
    My power supply is quite strong, the feeding line is a checked 50 ohms RG 213 cable and the antenna is a factory made Diamond X-50 at 50 ohms.
    Any solution please ??

    • Hi Ken. It’s not a resistor as far as i know. Take a look in Modifications II it’s what was sent me. My test piece was unlocked so never saw the mod but it needs the password to unlock it

    • Hi Don.

      On the board should be two resistors stood in the air. One makes the radio cover all the Europe bands like DE, PL and UK. If you cut both it unlocks it for 11 metres. I believe the EU one labelled R299 and one next to it too makes it converted.

      If you’ve a photo send me as not home where radio is currently. But it’s R299 and one next to it 🧙‍♂️

  12. Hi Simon. Thanks for the Info on the Yaesu FT-65/E Radio Tx unlock. It works like a charm!
    Do you have any information in relation to the difrences between the Aisan and European versions? as far as i can see the units and frequencies are the same, the only obvious diffrence being the lack of the Scrambler function Menu Item 39 on the European version.
    I guess what im asking is there any way to put the European verson into Asian Mode to activate the scrambler (voice inverson) function. either by a code input or jumper soldering? or is there a phyical difrence in the units or the firmwares?
    Any information would be apreciated!

  19. Hello.. My friend has bought CRT 279UV. In VFO is able to set any freq., but when opened in any SW to program memories, there is band limitations 144-145 and 430-439. Unable program standard HAM repeaters, nothing outside this range.
    Anny suggestion how to expand this?

    • Unfortunately I haven’t got it in my hands, but my friend bought it via local reseller and haven’t doing any modifications. But in VFO mode normaly operating in HAM bands. Yesterday we have been trying program memories, him first and me then via remote desktop and found this non-standard range. If it was out of the box, there should be at least 144-146 but not 144-145.
      70cm we have also 430-440 not 430-439, most of the repeaters have downlink above 439. We have tried it with CHIRP and CRT-VIP-CTS – same issue found. Today evening will try your unlock procedue and will see, if have changed. I’ve go Bao GT3TP and there was possible change it Chirp easily, in this case the range is greyed and unable to change.

      I have not much experience with those chinese radios, not understand, why memory and vfo range are different.

    • Understand you very well. I did check and the radio comes standard 144-146 and 430-440 MHz they told me. So it could be ok as 440Mhz. If not ok let me know and I’ll ask again, but code should work. Others used it and told me it’s ok. It does seems rather strange if you’ve got 144-145 and 430-439

    • Well, unlocking helped, all freq. programmed succesfully..
      Just in Chirp was not able set channel+names on display, was set via CRT-VIP
      All as QYT KT-9800D model..

    • I was asked this just this morning. AT-5289 needs programming software to unlock it fully 25.6-30.1 and can use same programming cable as the Stryker SR-955 / SR-655 / CRE8900 and Alinco DR-135DX
