Received some snippets of news that a new small sized SSB unit could be on its way. Details although painfully thin would suggest small size, 20w output SSB, 15w FM and 10w AM. It’s not from the king of the Mini CB Qixiang but from another it appears. It will come 10m and it’s modifiable to either 25.6 upwards or 24.8 upwards. It’s currently in the pre-sample stage and I’m told just CAD photos and limited board work has been carried out but could appear end of year 2017 or early into 2018.
And before anyone asks, it’s not President / Uniden or Qixiang..

I have always wondered why mobile SSB sets have to be so large. There was an SSB handheld not long back so it should be easily possible to make them smaller from a technical point of view.
I agree with The Stig on this ..The CRT Mike is already a cracking addition to the cars of today with limited space for a rig, I use one in the car with a headset 😉 having the option of SSB would be the icing on the cake 🙂

Same as me! Seems someone has been listening to the public about this. Power is fine so an amp can be used and I’ve since found out it’s probably 12/24v too.
Agree 100%. Make it 4w AM/FM, 12W SSB and 12/11/10 meter in a small form factor and if the operator wants more, then get an amplifier!
