Rumour Mill, Silly Season of 2013

As the end of the year comes there is always a certain amount of idiot mode about radios. Will something come, will it not. Well this year the winner of idiot mode radio is the President Lincoln II. The radio that was promised in the fall (don’t have that in Europe) we have the autumn. And it is winter now and it still has not landed at the dealers doorstep. While sure the radio will sell lots of units information has always been a drib drab now and then.

So to the latest news and this time from a website in Scandinavia which says that the Lincoln II will be export mode 24-30MHz and will be controlled by PC Software I was told that in May 2013 but the statements from the people in the south have not included that in there selling information. Sure it could be true, some extra mileage in selling software and cable. Getting blood from a stone is common these days with radios after all.

A Polish radio site states the radio comes before Christmas and will be the best thing since the wizard started his blog. While another friend of mine in the CB Business told me am more interested in the new President that comes in January. Maybe that is the Lincoln II delayed as sure they go to holidays early in December in France? But President themselves hinted at a new radio to a gentleman in Spain. So will be like a radio that performs bad, you wait for a good version for a long time and in the space of 8 weeks your wallet is empty and your table full of crap.

A couple of dealers in the UK have it marked as coming soon and when asked they told me before end of year. Week 50-51 was quoted from Denmark so there seems to be more idea that it will come this year.

Other things I have been either asked or told on the air about the Lincoln II

A) It comes with a cordless mike for the same price

B) In export mode the radio makes 90 watts SSB ( like the AT5555)

C) It must be sold for less than £150 because it will be shit like the Superstar 6900N

Prices are quoted from 199 euro plus tax on one call, a website shows it for 225e plus tax on another.

What we do know for sure is that cosmetically the radio has not changed a lot from prototype. Where RF Power is now, there was mode selector and a few more other changes and it is now Lincoln II and not UNCOLN II like the Stryker that was called a STRYER in the guise of a prototype.

Sleepless Nights, people with burning money in there pockets, waiting each new dawn for the radio to land. Will it be ALL THAT, will it change the world, or will it be a another radio that promises more than it can deliver?

Hmm did not work on the cordless mike either, but that’s another story for another day
