Chinese Hand Helds

Another controversial subject and something that pisses me off to the teeth. How some good for nothing radio amateurs bleat on about how the radios are unlocked and can transmit from 136-174 and 400-470MHz. What the hell is your problem? These radios will bring more people to the hobby and that’s maybe the reason as the too snooty gin and tonic swigging old timers are upset that something could be different. BUT what else do we know about these on air preachers who on the repeaters make there fake sounding ha ha at anytime during a QSO

Example on a GB3** Repeater

“I am driving and talking now ha ha and soon back at my office he he”

Boring mindless idiot. Not anyone is interested in the crap you spout on the airwaves.

M3’s using 200w when they should use 10w, M0,1,2,3 running there Expert 2k and other massive amps outside of there legality.

NOTHING HAPPENS

THEN you can buy a handheld that works 400-470 for £15 or a dual band Baofeng for £23 they are up in arms and turning red with anger, some writing emails to manufacturers asking them to release stuff locked or withdraw them from sale *News from a hand held maker*

Have a day off. Program the radio so you can speak to your own small minded like wise idiots and get on with it. Some allow in software disabling the VFO Mode and only allow memory, so program ALL legal stuff and then all is well? Or not?

Amazing. For 1 person, am happy to have a radio for the car for £25 instead of a Yaesu for £200 so not complaining. Have a radio on the hills monitor and transmit on PMR, sure I have done it sometimes. Radio on a battery eliminator and dual band antenna on the roof working simplex and repeaters for an outlay less than £50 BRILLIANT. Long may these radios exist if you ask me. The more the merrier, the more features, more programming options and more interest in using them,

Perfect

  2. Well said Simon. I’m sick to my back teeth of these old boys and the snobby brigade who constantly winged and moan about anything that they find different or dislike and then you wait ten minutes and their keying out the calling frequency because they have chosen to test a piece of equipment with a dead key for the rest of the local county to be forced to listen too. It’s not as if they haven’t got other frequencies to play with. 2 Meters is the new CB Radio if you listen to the “Muppets” on 27.781.25 (Ch 19) their better behaved than the so called Amateurs on 2 meters. So to just to confirm I totally agree with your statement and I know I’m not the only one who does too.

    • And me too. I watch videos of “amateur gentlemen” and how they how are you old boy and bla bla and the next minute they are running a CB, amplifier and telling the world they use 4 watts when you hear the amp clicking, fan ticking over and you know they are full of crap. This subject narked me for so long and did nothing then recently was on echolink and hear the same as I heard in the 1990s

” I went to the show and paid £800 for a new radio hahahaha but must not tell the wife as she would not understand he ha he ”

Sure, she would think what a twat for telling the world and laughing about it. Plus why laugh like an idiot, oh I forgot with the call the guy had he was the next stage from idiot. 11m pirates with an amateur call trying to make a country on 11m and then 10m and show the world both the QSL cards. IDIOTIC as makes danger for the operator next time he wants to do something.

I listen a lot via echo link and chat with friends there also ( why not? ) and all were mostly CB or ex CB people and we chat about all, nothing, something, anything. Where as the snooty gang and those who are on a few certain networks make you feel like running to the nearest sick bucket or bathroom.

I like the novice idea, I applaud the Chinese radios at good prices, I believe the hobby needs new blood and wait to the times I hear once more the multi tone bleeps, echos and the like on 10 metres. If you buy an ” amateur radio ” and it comes with echo and a roger bleep turn it on I say……………
