Thanks to the kindness of “Mr A” who signed his email from Europe here we have one of the first Grant II radios with the EU norms and rU on a switch. So no more opening the radio and moving the jumper needed from now onwards.
For me hard as cannot get those blocks or indeed cable here but well done to Mr A for the excellent step forward in modification.
Turn the radio on with F makes Legal Norms and then move the switch and do the same process and you have the rU bands enabled.
We know Kucha Hans uses the VOX on the Jackson II and makes export mode, but this is a different radio and a different way forward.
A thousand thanks to Mr A. He has stood tall, made the photos and sent them here for us all to see. Not at all sure where he is, email address does not help me so please don’t ask me.
For me, guess need find the name of those plugs and scan ebay for something like that….
Anybody know where I can get those blocks and wires then drop me a message via the contact link as seems there is nothing on the ebay here from what I can see.
Mr A I thank you. Your sharing this can help all the people out there with there radio. Brilliant Indeed….
Already a MASSIVE RESPONSE VIA EMAIL PEOPLE ASKING ABOUT THE PARTS:
I Now can pass the following information. Company which sells them is RADIO SPARES UK
Pico-Lock Wire to Board Housing 4 way
RS Stock No. 789-8368
Pico-Lock Contact terminal 24-28 AWG
RS Stock No. 789-8378
The person who sent me this was in the UK so check locally to you for the variants you need
Also please remember the following. You cut the wire, you open the radio you loose ALL GROUNDS OF WARRANTY. President were not born yesterday and know everything. So if you modify and it breaks then you need get it fixed and pay the price of the repair. There is no free repair, no warranty, nothing can be done. Pay for it to be fixed or invest in another radio. Please remember this of course.

You only need to jump pins 2 and 3 so you don’t need 3 wires if you have no jumper installed you get multi norm so jumping pin 2 and 3 as Mr A has done you get multi norms and full export with just 2 wires
As for the wire housing old ones of a PC are the wrong size they are 1.25mm
The way Mr A has done this mod is as simple as it gets
If you don’t want a switch just use a 2.5mm jack plug and socket as this fits the hole nice that president have put in the rear of the radio
You are better off using an electric key switch. When you take the key out, your favorite mode will be locked in place and not accidently switched.
You can find the wire and jumper connectors in an old computer, ie- led, speakers, switches, usb, etc connect to the mother board in this way.
Why did he not just put wires to all three pins on the switch and to the 3 jumper pins then get factory standard or freeband.
Yeh id be intrested too great idea thx
