RM 7405 10m Linear Amplifier

Guess this is a well known amplifier but was asked to feature it by a reader as it seems a perfect 10m friend for your FT817 and it’s 5w input. The 7405 needs maximum input of 5w and provides 120w output on 10m band. Price is $181 was the best that I could see. Band requirement is 10m, and 18 amp power supply needs.

  1. Personally, I think it looks no different to standard CB fare and you can buy an KL203P for £40 delivered and that will give you 100w/200w, okay they’re Italian watts but so is the featured amp. Most of that KL stuff does 26-30MHz so it covers 10m just fine – it never used to, but they wanted an FCC stamp so they had to change it a bit – all base level American Amateur licences only allow them 10m on HF, that’s why 10m is such a big market, even with our own multimodes.

If I specifically wanted a QRP amp, 120w takes you way out of QRP and I’d just take a an FT-857 with 100w out the back. But if you want an amp for 10m use, then the link below shows you what is available, yes, it only does up to 50w, but it’s a proper HF amp covering most of the bands. And for FT-817 owners it comes supplied with the interface cable.
