You’ve taken purchase of your lovely new FT-3DE and want to unlock it for some reason or another. The modification is very much like the FT-2D. There is a plastic grommet located on the back of the radio and gently remove it. Lift one end of the resistor and fully reset the radio to start over again and the radio is unlocked. Is it worth it? Actually probably not!

Full reset of the radio and it unlocks it. On the UHF side 446 MHz is unlocked and with 6.25 kHz step. But not advisable to unlock! I just lifted one end of the 000 resistor but truly it’s not worth it. The huge receive capabilities is the exciting part, plus Bluetooth etc. So much inside such a small radio. Exciting times ahead to explore around it.
