  1. One issue with all the newer radios going back to the Lincoln 2 is that reducing RF output effected swing and audio levels. A President McKinley USA might key 4 watts AM and swing to 14-16 or higher but lower RF power to 1 watt for a KL203 and the radio might barely swing 4-5 watts with low audio. This is common across all the newer radios. Older 148s etc could be set up for with low AM deadkey for amps and still have good swing and audio without effecting SSB at all. Because the new radios have the RF power, and it affects both it ends up making the radios a little lethargic when you lower the power output. The Magnum S9 and Omegaforce used to be a good example of radios that could lower output without messing with audio or swing. I Pretty much guarantee that if you lower the output on the new Washington, on ssb it won’t sound as punchy or clear as it does with RF output wide open.
