Those reading this or not reading the radio below is a STRYKER which is AM and FM so doesn’t need a clarifier. The HP490 is based on this radio but will be different as needs SSB and a clarifier will be added. This picture was on PNI page!
When / IF PNI bring the HP490 it will have SSB and look different to this radio BUT have a similar base and from the same factory. If too hard please don’t read the blog….
We knew about it months ago that possibly GW Telecom was back for a very special project and it’s true! Sincere thanks to Helmut Frequenzwaschl we’ve a photo but it’s from another makers 490 so wait for the PNI version. The version photo is Stryker which is only AM and FM. PNI will come with SSB

And it’s the radio some Germans believed would be €99 end user. Sadly not as cannot and never could be BUT it’s the radio you asked me about I think October, November 2023….

That pictue of the SR-490 has no hint of it being an SSB set. There is no SSB option on the mode switch, nor any sort of clarifier.

Hi Donald. Story is that GW opened again for two projects and one Stryker the other was PNI. Strykers have started to reappear so maybe the PNI will come soon. SURE it will be different as has SSB and other odds and ends but the idea is that it comes to North American market and should sell well price depending
