Sad news this time from Axelino that the Yaesu FT-991A is now discontinued. As the owner and the very happy owner of a couple of these that’s super bad news. But on the positive side what’s coming next?

For many radio amateurs, the FT-991A was not a case of love at first sight—but rather at second.
It evolved into a faithful companion, offering an excellent value proposition in terms of cost versus HF, VHF, and UHF band coverage.
In terms of production volume, it was undoubtedly one of the most underrated devices ever made.
Since SDR technology has now become the standard for base station equipment, a return in a new version is highly unlikely.
However, where one window closes for us as radio amateurs, another opens.
