Lincoln II Around The Web

As at the moment I have some free time I have been looking around the web and also found some interesting videos and it does indeed seem that the people who are writing to me are right. Some Lincoln II do not have AGC issues where some do and also some are not having as bad s meter lambada issues as others (or so videos show when I look at mine)

Shows the AM receive and this is really different to mine for example. Seems less shaky and erratic

Good Video but was surprised it showed the radio in a different way and talking about it as a CB?

Shows the 555 and the way it behaves when you watch the video seems also to be different to mine. Is it different for yours also?

And another on the Echo Echo frequency, all seem different if you watch the videos. I think there seems to be well in excess of 150 videos now and all seem a bit different. Location? Antennas? Situation I do not know but sure they are indeed different.

Got a Lincoln II is yours the same as these or also different? Log In and let the others know how yours behaves.

Receiving on 10 metres. Another interesting one so take a look.

But sure when I look at mine and see the videos here (c) ALL THE AUTHORS I see that indeed mine has more issues than some of the others, and also less issues than someone else I know whose radio is at least 10% worse than mine so he tells me..

  1. It amazes me how many people seem to think that each and every setting on a radio should be set to maximum. I have been using radios for 20 happy years and many people have been using them for longer than me and yet they still have everything set to maximum and moan if they have to change something to make something sound good. If a strong signal come in on my Kenwood HF radio i turn off the pre-amp, if its still too strong or i want to reduce interference from other stations i might even use the attenuation feature. When i’m working with weak stations i will have the pre-amp turned on and will try to improve the signal to noise ratio using the DSP and filters. Making these adjustments is a normal part of operating a radio yet after over 20 years people still can’t grasp this.

I really like my Lincoln 2. It doesn’t have the wobbly knobs of the Magnums, the 1970’s chrome of the cobras or the frequency drift of the Superstars. I like the original Lincoln as well but they are now 20 years old and many have been messed with and some parts are no longer available. It was time for a new model and i’m glad that the manufacturers are investing in our great hobby and that plenty of new radios are out/coming out.

I wish Cobra would make a 10m all mode version of the 29. I really like the look of that radio. Hint Hint :).

  2. Hi Simon,
Surprised looking at the video’s, to see some L2’s don’t have Lambada S-meters.
I’m very sorry to conclude that mine hase several issues like jumping S-meter, AGC issue and frontend overload.
RF-gain setting back makes it a little better.
My conclusion is that something is very wrong with adjusting the radio’s in the factory and final inspection before shipping
