Less than 24 hours to the United Kingdom being legal on AM / SSB I am told the sale of radios have been a little better than expected. Remember the network will be active on the channels above. These are not OFCOM agreed Calling Channels as I was told by a reader (Tony from Surrey) but a guideline set up by someone. I don’t know the real answer to this so cannot comment and of course you are free to make calls on any frequency you like and of course AM / FM / SSB

So dust down those Cobra 148’s (not legal) and Jaws, Ham Multimodes and other old radios (all not legal) or do yourself a favour and come into 2014 with a new Midland, Albrecht or President radio capable of SSB and if the owner of a current multi-norm radio then select the EU band and use the 40 channels AM / FM and away you go.
