Optima MK3 Back In The UK

Well it seems that RADIOZING have been again on the warpath for finding radios and this time there is an “old friend” returned back on sale and this time it is the Optima 3. Remember this one? It is the Icom 8 pin wired one with all the latest bits and pieces on the inside. There are other sellers with this radio, but some of these are indeed the MK2 and this can be found out sadly either after sale or when the radio arrives on the doorstep

Its never going to be an big audio performer on FM ive tried both my mk3’s with various microphones and have adjusted the dev inside the radio.I use SSB more than AM/FM so no biggie for me this is where it performs great I use a tti handsfree mic in the car with cracking results and at home the icom hm36 mic or the phantom which comes with it which I like too

  2. The one thing this radio really needs is a full service manual and schematics diagrams the manufacturer just wont release them.Fm tx modulation has been a bit hit and miss would be interesting to see if that issue fixed on mk3 and set to Narrow FM for EU\UK market?
