Something that I have thought since 2006 was the right way to go. IF you want something in export mode then you should both be able to get 0 and 5 ending. Some you need close a jumper for export with 5 and then loose that to close another jumper and get a 0 ending. Seems the ball has changed now with many radios?
New series models of the President Teddy ASC have now am told 0 and 5 in export mode. Finally….
And above are some of the ones also that I know (CRT One, Team Mini Com) and think (Johnson II / Stabo) that have new software that allows the selection of the ending of the channels.
But rU or PX or whatever name its branded. Harder for companies as regulations get tighter to hide or add all the goodies the users want or expect…
And above. A radio that I think needs the 1’s to be added.. KC Shift, track the display down to 0.
27.555, 554, 553, 552, 551, 550
Like the George. This also had 0 and 5 endings but not the steps between.
Is 2015 the year when FINALLY something can be done with this? Jackson II has a KC shift, yes can take some of the design away from the Grant II but would add something many moan about including myself. You get asked to QSY 577 and then what? Look for another radio to take the strain as your £200 radio cannot manage it? We buy a radio because of price, usability, looks, manufacturer, history of brand, what it can do, audio, receive. But why can’t we have the return of a KC Shift..

980 880 same lineage……you knew my meaning. I suppose a L2 style push button could be implemented in an upgrade but it would cost more as the insides would have to be “adjusted”. Someone somewhere (soon?) will have a knob drilled into the top case to make this possible.
Mike at YeticomNZ has it doing KC shift the Grant II but display does not track at all. Think it’s locked hard via software. We can all dream I guess…
There isn’t one on the 880 either is there? Cost cutting and corner cutting perhaps? The DNA was all there in the 880. What do I know. I had the set and its now in a new home…..
980 is with SSB and no KC shift. 880 is AM only and no shift either. Don’t think cost cutting, could be old Grant had no KC and new one same? Old Grant did not come with 0’s but the new one does? I know nothing either….
I agree with you in the sense that the G2 needs a KC shift, but it was sold as a type Approved CB and would a KC shift be against the legislation. Most of the folk who bought the G2 on the back of the UK legal day have probably MODDED it for 27.555 anyways. It makes them feel better that they are using a type approved set illegally.
Hi Tim. Think legality wise it’s ok as Jackson II has the KC shift and legality it’s fine. It’s just hard use in “complete” export mode as can’t slide the shift. Old days Grant had no KC shift either I guess but times changed since those days
