As we know some customers including myself had some issues with the noise level on the Grant II and latterly the premium. BUT these days are gone now according to Dealer J who loaned me this off the shelf Grant II Premium modified export and also all the noise is gone.
Before you ask me I’ll tell all I know as of now and cannot add more:
Old Premium SSB (my noise level) S7-8 This Premium in photo S1-2
Old Premium FM (noise at my location) S7-9 This Premium in photo you see it S1
Old Premium AM (noise at my location) S6-9 This Premium in photo you see it S1
No spikes from Mike keyer effect
If the old version (at my home) was 80% unusable the one in the photo is 98% usable. Only 98% as nothing ever can be 100% but the noise gremlins are well away.
Sometimes noise level rose to S4/5 but does the same on my Kenwood identical. Location issues etc but the Premium this dealer has is quieter than anything here I’ve got.
Thanks to dealer J for show n tell and Uniden / President getting the grip on the issue for those of us who suffered. It is nice to see the signal meter behaving and where there was noise now there is signal. As before normal atmospheric conditions make noise, the things i write and speak about are the s-meter being across the screen on the other version and the way there was too much noise.
Below is a video from the insides so you see it is exactly from the factory and no modifications made otherwise. At the moment there is a thunder storm at my location so i need wait to make another on air video as the weather beat me for now. BUT i have added a couple of photos and the rest will come very shortly just as soon as the weather sell has passed over. Added a second video but not anyone on air, and just coughs and whistles and farts from atmospheric noises.
Of course many will wait till the radio is reviewed to death before deciding to buy or not. Below is a video from my other Premium so watch it and see the difference, there is quite a difference to be sure. But watch others videos if not like mine, they’ll be out there when the radio is bought.

Hi Rob & “Who Cares” I’ve no idea is the answer. You’d need ask directly as I’m not the one with the answer. Not many had the issues Rob, I’ve a Grant II (not premium) from a friend in Germany and he never once had bad noise, videos show it. My QTH S8 noise all modes. There are less people with noise than with, and emails here telling me overnight “no difference mines no noise since day1” so hard to say…

The radio I tried was in export mode, but of course needs to be modified for this. Power is good, receive is good. Works like my Jackson II Classic now around the same noise levels.
Guess dealers in DL will get them soon? Or have them I’m not sure to be honest. Where my radio is from they are in stock, I think via airfreight so bulk deliveries in a few weeks I guess when the sea freight lands.
I’d ask or email a few dealers. But I think maybe end of April into May when BIG shipment lands (guesswork)
Congratulations to the guys who made the videos, talked about it. It’s there reward a noise free radio. Me, nothing to do with me. I just aired my anger on a small corner of the Internet that’s all. And of course President and Uniden for looking into it. That’s the key! They actually tried to resolve it and succeeded.
