The throwback this Thursday is a Gain-Master failure from over a year ago. There was a spate of failures around the bottom section which later a “service note” was issued but still sad to see an expensive antenna fail. So that’s this weeks Throwback Thursday CB item.
Yes he labels it as a freak wind, and it does seem to be a rather violent storm. Below is the link to the “service note”

I tend to agree with one of the comments on the video from 1 year ago that the clip needed to be higher nearer to the tip on the base section. Would it have still failed? I really don’t know but guess due to the nature of the storm the answer would have been yes. What did he replace it with or did he replace it? Guess we will never know it.
Good thing with CB there are choices of antennas, enough of them to choose from. My Gain-Master was in 120kph wind in Munich, didn’t snap luckily but was rather bent around 3/4 up. After this I changed to a different antenna but still now and then run my big Gain-Master but now with the smaller one it works well and has less bend in the wind.
