Portugal Ends CB Registration 

News from the ECBF so please check out the website at the weekend. The news is not great as now Portugal has ended the registration of CB users. Below is the original news in Portuguese sent to me via Vicente. I thank him for the advance notice. It’s good to know the details from ECBF. Now what will happen? Eliminação da obrigatoriedade de registo dos utilizadores das estações de CB

A ANACOM (https://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1406183) aprovou, a 9 de março de 2017, a isenção de licença das estações de CB, bem como a atualização do Quadro Nacional de Atribuição de Frequências (QNAF) em conformidade. A decisão aprovada definiu os requisitos técnicos harmonizados a que o funcionamento das estações do serviço rádio pessoal – banda do cidadão (CB) deve obedecer.

Assim, a partir de 11 de março de 2017, as estações de CB estão isentas de licença, nos termos e ao abrigo do disposto no artigo n.º 9, n.º 1, alínea b) do regime geral das radiocomunicações, aprovado pelo Decreto-Lei n.º 151-A/2000, de 20 de julho, na redação atualmente em vigor1.

  1. “The news is not great….” – why not? No protection….? There wasn’t any!

    I had to pay 74,82€ if we wanted to use a CB radio legally. No its free (to use since we still have to pay the radio) like every body else. I’ve waited and waited for this decision until 2 years ago I got tired and paid for it.

    • Agree, but trouble is with no idea how many “real users” there are it is easier to sell off to other services that will pay licenses to use 27Mhz where CB users (no records, no numbers, no idea how many) they get it free.
