I think the Ranger Rigs since 2020 are Not drifting on SBB anymore, like Replay before sad. My RCI2950CD ist stabil !
But is 500 Watts real? New Kind of Mosfets or what ?
Best Regards Armin from Heidelberg/Germany
Hello Armin.
For 1 year I have the CRT SS7900V which replaces my RCI-2950CD which did not bring me any satisfaction in SSB.
It is a RCI that I had bought new from my usual seller in France and from the first day at room temperature it was all the time at -60HZ in USB and at -180HZ in LSB.
After 15 minutes with some passages in TX it seemed quite correct in frequency but it went up again to + 100HZ in USB and + 200HZ in LSB with warming.
The other fault that I did not like was the noise caused by the power supply of the LED display that passed through the internal speaker.
When I saw that this new CRT came out on the market with this new circuit design, I quickly sold the RCI without regrets.
For me these old circuits with variable resistors and ferrite inductors for fundamental settings and RX/TX frequency settings seem too sensitive to temperature variations inside the device.
When I see that the RCI is sold at more than 400 euros on average, it is better to buy a small used HF unit.
Or I came across a defective device…
In any case I am very happy for you if your RCI is stable and reliable on a daily use.
Good Sunday to you. 73/51
Another cheap muscle car…
500 watts OK, but drifty on SSB.
