Aha! An article about a PNI in 2018 started blowing up in the past days and maybe the answer is found? PNI Romania to release a radio OR something with SSB is being discussed.

Under €100 to end user I was told by excited people. THEN i’d not be keen on it as must be manufactured around $20~$30 to enable this and believe me you don’t want an SSB radio at under €100. Be very careful what you’re dreaming about, be very careful…….

SR-490 is the rumour mill radio coming with SSB.

Costing: SSB radios are more labour intensive so in a day maybe 250-500 can be manufactured where as AM/FM will be in the area of 1,500 – 2,000 ballpark SO costs more to make SSB that’s why cheap don’t exist!

So the honest reply:

Price – Completely Unknown (I’d Hope area of €250 ~ €350 end user)

Do they make a SSB radio – Yes it can happen it’s in the planning

AM FM SSB 100w – Yes two modes will be 100w

Availability – Unknown at the moment
