So here we are back with the Midland M5 PRO as well as some videos showing it in action I’ll do my best to answer some of the questions you’ve asked me via emails in the past days.
ANC Automatic Noise Cancelling
Works in a way where it takes away a lot of the background noise during transmission and in my case I can say on AM it really was working in an incredibly efficient way and made the audio literally glass clear and added some form of sharpness to the audio. FM it was equally efficient but for me and in my personal belief it was more efficient in AM mode. Noticeable comments came about the audio. Thank you for the question about it and it was really good can’t say anymore.
Although the radio is small the sound is available via the base unit and handset, just the base and or just the handset. The Hi-Cut was a key feature for me and in my case and my location worked just as expected no drama, no issues it was fine. As mentioned last time the radio covers all the EU norms and if needed and market dependent you can achieve 25615/610 upwards plus @lpha channels etc. I would say it would be nice if the factory and or the engineers could implement 5/0 via key press and not a different menu and band as makes it a little old in style but still good it’s included when some makers are now taking away some export features. On a recent release from the same factory of another radio you could use the F button double press and have 5/0 so maybe something for the future possibly, However shrinking export mode users possibly so just a note for something along in the future maybe?
Thunderpole offer a microphone and magnet combo and the magnet holds the handset in place superbly just for information and from my tests.
I used the box on the left above and it held the microphone in the most superb way. Never moved once it sat like glued to the magnet
The base is the popular sized one used on many models of radio from the same factory.
Export. The most questions, and most of the questions from Italy. Yes the radio can achieve the 27.465 AM frequency you asked about. It’s an easy process and best the dealer informs you about it. The radio works in tables like some handhelds so table 1, 2 and 3. You can achieve 25-30, Alpha Channels, 0 ending frequencies etc. And 4/8w jump. It’s there and sure you’ll be able to ask when purchase the radio. AND yes the usb-c charges iPhones and Samsung phones effortlessly I can say as I have tried it and it’s working perfectly.
On Air
Audio reports have been good. The audio is sharp and mostly clear. I say mostly as the ANC is the feature that really sets the radio apart. I’ve been lucky conditions have been good and contacts to England, Ireland and Turkey have been made on FM and reports have been good.
