The Dynascan F15 PMR Radios let me start by saying these are good! The size is large and fits into the hand easily, the key key hinges being usb-c charging as well as drop in charger so you can charge them on the powerbanks, from your CB radio and indeed in some cases via a mobile telephone

The radios come as a pair and complete with six AA nicads, drop in charger, Handsfree kit, belt clips and the adapter to plug into the mains for charging in the drop in although usb-c is also possible on the right hand side of the radio whereas the PTT is on the left side. The legal scenario of 16 channels, 500mw and fixed antenna makes them license free and ready for the summer holidays, kids out and about calling home and or for standing on hills making DX, or taking part in the PMR linking events which one has recently passed.

** These radios come with 6 x 1.2v 1200Mah AA batteries and these can be swapped out for Duracell and other brands but remember do not charge non rechargeable batteries in the charger. Yes I know sounds obvious but sadly I know of some people who’ve done it** For me I’m going to swap out the batteries for some higher voltage ones (possibly)

Loud speaker at the bottom under the display belts out the sound and the scan function flies across the channels pretty quickly and where I tested them in the centre of Budapest as before on other radios the shoe shops, hotel staff, taxi drivers and others made most use of the channels 1-8 and rare to hear any voices on the 9-16 area of this license free band.

On the bottom of the radio is aflashlight which illuminates and when the radio comes into contact with water (It’s an IP67 radio) then the SOS function will start and a bright white light comes on so both of the lights at the bottom are on and trust me that really illuminates around the area you are. The options here with the flashlight would be an excellent thing to have with you at the up and coming Sziget Festival in Budapest.

For me the key thing is size! Big enough to have a good sounding speaker, big enough to have a decent sized display and heavy enough to know you’re carrying around a premium radio.
