When it comes to antennas there is no doubt that Nigel does know his antennas. As well as making them, he has written a book about antennas and brings a passion to antenna making that is sometimes non existent. To this extent he has released a new “small” HF Colinear for those who live in apartments or places where long wire antennas are not permitted. Like with all and YES size does matter there is some compromise but if you check out his WSPR reports it indeed shows that the antenna is working well.
The write up about the antenna from the website is as follows:
A short vertical for flat dwellers or those with little or no garden to mount a large antenna. these are 1.7m (170cm) in length and will operate on 30, 15, 12 and 10m using the internal ATU supplied with most transceivers nowadays and 40, 20 and 17m when used with an external ATU. Use of a counterpoise or radials does help on the lower bands.
Power handling up to 300W. Pole mounting is achieved via two U-clamps and a pole of diameter between 30mm and 40mm is recommended. Feed point is an SO239 enabling direct coaxial feed.
Price of the antenna is £69.95 and if like me you live in the EU then the shipping cost comes it at £15 then you are on the air. My you tube channel will feature this antenna in the next weeks when it arrives from the UK. But if you are in an area where you have small space, or maybe portable, or SOTA and want an antenna to plug and use then maybe this could work for you:
