To answer many emails in one article this is the idea of this, so bear with me while I answer most of the questions that have been sent in the last 2 weeks or indeed searched on the blogs search function. And in this “lump of answers” I hope that I can put some of the doubts to rest and the false hoods defeated too.
Is this a V2 Grant II and is it Uniden or Qixiang?
Not really a V2 but an all new. There was the initial Grant II that came with no AM/SSB in uk settings, this was then changed and a revised version released. This Premium Grant II is Uniden made, has a new board, new Murata filter and is all new.
Export Mode
In previous editions there was no UK in export mode and now there is. It is shown here on video. It includes UK and then the usual bands. Power is slightly increased compared the old one. As an all new Grant II it has new ideas.
Why is it Premium?
You need ask Preident and not me. As all new, Murata filter etc then guess that’s why. I think maybe not unique but maybe there best units for SSB will carry this name? But 90% guess and not confirmed.
I don’t see them in shops yet?
They are all sold out in Balaruc so I learned from a dealer and so takes time to filter through to the shops and dealers. Example, I hear they are landing in Sweden this week, so maybe comes to other places soon. How many in UK I’ve no idea at all, sorry.
What’s next from President?
Oh boy! Can’t answer that as have no ideas. USA seems to be next place to get a radio. They’ve been busy this year with the 12/24v series and the new Grant II and silver / chrome Jackson II etc so guess it’s 2016 now for something else?
That’s it! Can’t tell you more as have no idea at all. President is locked tight, you cannot learn anything at all. It’s like guessing lottery numbers. As a blog we are lucky as Uniden do come and look here. But Uniden is not the ones to tell. Just need keep looking around and digging in the dirt and then sometimes something new pops up.
But imagine CB radio as this. Sales worldwide of all makers is AM/FM. This pays salaries, mortgages, rent, staff and then the SSB market is the cream on the coffee or the icing on the cake. It’s nice to have, but the other radios are what keeps you solvent and in business. If just lots of SSB stuff your not in business too long.
This is why we wait sometimes a long time. Things being developed take time as AM/FM is your lifeline.
