Best Current Multi-EU / CEPT Only SSB CB Radio

This category is open to legal norm SSB radios. It is open to multi EU and those locked to CEPT band but are classed in the category CB radio and not a 10m radio like the AT-5555 which can be expanded to cover all CB bands. In this market segment there are a few radios but what is the best one. Can anyone tell which it is? More information after the break here.

So the models we have at the moment are:

So which is the best?

All have issues some way or another. Either loose knobs, white noise, build quality, all of the before. I’ve used all and infact am still in therapy trying to get over using the Midland it was so bad! Jackson II Classic black is the oldest one here now I’d say so has most of the errors or quirkiness taken away now and I can use this one, the AE5890EU noise free.

This category is Russian Roulette at the moment, pay your money and take your chance.

I’m not announcing a winner, not possible! I can just say for me Jackson II Classic, Uniden 980SSB not offical EU & AE5890EU are noise free. The Midland I believe is now deleted? But not sure. Superstar not so freely available, the Grant II and Premium well…. The handheld suffered from the jitter when released and the AE7500 you can’t find them around at the moment or indeed limited places.

Small market for these radios compared to the AM/FM ones and think it really needs to be dragged into 2016 with new ideas, dreams to chase and customers to find. It seems we are all currently BETA testers for some radios and indeed some makers need to consider new ideas. Not just one reseller, many need sit and think hard, long, well at what has happened and what the best way forward will be.

There are more than these models available but these were picked as the most common in stores and online eBay etc.
