OP3 = Desolder to enable rU and PX
Some models were a little different but mostly if your radio has all 3 closed then desolder OP3

Hello. looking for info: a friend have the ALBRECHT AE 4200. His FM -modulation is verry verry quiet. Which controller in the device on the board is responsible for this? Or … where can I fix the fm mod higher on the board?
Best ask at Albrecht as depends which version he has to what board is inside the radio. Dragon or Otherwise. But on many radios the FM is either quiet, dull, not sounding good.

Not easy. Both Dynascan & CRT use different software to AT-5555N. The software Is not the same.

High Power is not switchable. Power is around 10 watts or so. Better is get an amplifier then it’s switchable and doesn’t stress the radio
Thanks for your quick reply Simon! I have the CRT Mike as mentioned with a President New York on my car and was looking at getting the most out of them. I like to have them permanently set up and a long antenna is not practical for me (i do have one ML-145 in the boot if needed though).

I use currently New York with CRT One N and guess it’s 15 watts or Barry AM/FM similar power.. The difference with where you’ll get with just the extra few watts is not worth it ultimately.
Hi Simon. I agree it’s not worth it. I’m not after crazy wattage, just that little bit extra to get me out there..many times i can hear people but my setup just doesnt get that far out. Rather than opening up the radio i might just leave it. If it was something selectable from the radio’s menu, i wouldve been all up for it, like when you select the band and can get EU (1w AM) or EUH (4w AM), for example.

No luck on opening up the frequency on ALINCO DR-438H. There’s literally nothing online that even mentions how it’s done. Just says on sites that sell the radio, that it’s modifiable via software. It IS only for frequencies within the frequency band set on the radio. They make out as though you can change the version via software, but it’s BULL. I payed £160 for the radio, and that’s excluding cable. Can’t use it on 446MHz! Put away in its box until I know how to open up the frequency. Merry Christmas Simon, and whoever is reading this!

A: Programming
B: Small file software that writes new limits 400-470Mhz
You do change via software, just software not released to all. Plus, I’ve checked and it unlocks via key routine.

Page 49 Manual is band selection. The bands you’ve got is multi-norm but ALL President default EU. You need press mode button and you’ll see it goes to UK40. Has to, it’s in legal mode
If i Press F then turn on the radio in legal mode, I can choose EU, PL, D & U etc! & i have tried them all but No UK FM, I tried cycling through the modes too, but No UK FM, so it seem’s i would have to rejoin the white wire too maybe 🙁
I don’t see the problem?
Turn on radio press F
Turn channel change till it shows U
Press F till it stops flashing (1 second)
Turn on radio and it will show 27.185 AM band EU
Press I think AM FM maybe and it goes to U which is UKFM
The radio defaults in EU mode on UK 40 and you need select it like it says in manual. It is in EU/UK mode
Hi Simon, When I have the jumper in Export mode in my Grant II, I get all the bands etc! except the UK FM(Obviously) & i cycle through the bands by pressing the F Key which is cool 🙂
But, when i move the jumper back to legal (Wire still Cut), all i get is the Mids & No UK FM, any ideas Simon?
Hi Stu. You got me! If you turn on radio with F pressed in “legal” mode is it just EU.. CAN also be wire cut in legal mode only mid Band for sale in countries like Austria where multi EU radios not allowed

ok, thanx again, tho just 2 more things, so if im in export mode, how do i change between the bands? is it with the F key? & lastly, So what is the point of the white wire that you cut for export mode, if you only need to put the jumper back to get uk legal again?
http://tinyurl.com/y9ax4xjt That shows how to get A channels and 0 ending in export mode. As the UK is open for use multi norm not all countries are. So, the white wire helps if move jumper and not cut wire makes CEPT only so disable multi norm.

ok, thanks simon, mine is the standard grant ii, so if i resoldered the wire & moved the jumper back, would i regain the UK FM mode like it was before the mod?, also, in export mode will the FM/AM & SSB have more power, if so, do you know roughly how much it will be?
Yep just move the jumper no need to attach the wire just move jumper.
FM 4w AM 4w & SSB 9-11w
If the jumper is in export mode its around 8w FM 5w AM and 9-11w SSB so nothing lost at all

Hi Stu. All mods are on modification area. Depends on your Grant II. If its not a Premium you loose UK40 in export mode. If it is a premium just go through modes and will be AM FM USB LSB UK ..
Don’t use AM ,but hopefully it will sound ok on fm,like on my ss360fm

Hi Mike, All Presidents FM is always lower than AM.. Remember it’s set to around 1.8khz which is legal norm.. Myself I’d change to a Power mike or similar was not worth wasting warranty. It’s adjustment right hand side one of the W’s. I can’t put it here as too many google engineers make mess of good radios, especially this year.

Normally i could say but this year many made an arse of radios when modding etc. Mine is same, run a Konektor5000 Tuning AE-2002 Densei (kamsat Manchester also sell them) it rattles fillings from teeth and takes voltage from radio so no battery. Silver Eagle on AM will be brilliant on it.

i have an intek m100 plus and have tried to modify it by removing link2.. the result is a radio that only shows 40 on the sreen and none or the controls seem to work… have i goosed it or is there a solution? best regards.
Maybe goosed it, here is direct link to export mod showing what’s needed to remove: http://www.cbforumas.lt/upload/manuals/intek/M-100_sm.pdf it shows the extra bands etc. They are accessed via same switch on routine that changes bands in multi-norm mode.

Hi. Wire cut and jumper enables rU mode from 25.6-30.1 AM/FM in banks of 40 channels. Depending on Version, maybe possible 8 watts (http://tinyurl.com/ybqo4tgy) but not tested on Stabo, only on CRT 12/24v MegaPro
